Former Derwent Brass member Jamie Cooper has won his way through to the final of the BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Soloist 2007 competition. Jamie claimed one of the 4 finalists places up for grabs at the recent semi-finals held at BBCs Manchester studios. The event was judged by Professor David King and Michael Hext. Jamie, who was principal cornet of Derwent Brass from 2002 - 2004, now plays for the famous Brighouse & Rastrick band and is studying at the Royal Northern College of Music.
