The band were in jubilant mood after picking up the 2nd prize at the Midland Regional contest 1st section this weekend. After putting in a lot of hard work over the past couple of weeks, including players giving up a whole Sunday for rehearsal, additional rehearsals and valuable input from visiting maestro and band friend Richard Evans, the band then presented a fine performance on stage to catch the adjudicators' ears. !
The band were naturally in jubilant mood after the contest, with celebrations immediately taking place in nearby hostelry and continuing late into the night at a poor unsuspecting Indian Restaurant in the town - we hope our revelry didn't disturb the other diners to much!
Both adjudicators, Alan Morrison & David Read, praised the band's performance and in conversation after the event complimented MD Keith Leonard on the band's musical interpretation. Keith added "whilst the performance was not without the odd slip, generally I was more than happy with what the band did on the day and the preparation beforehand, naturally I'm delighted at the result"
The 2nd prize earns the band a coveted place at the National Finals in September which will be held at the Harrogate Conference Centre, and should also promote the band back into the Championship section, although this has to be officially confirmed.
