Annual General Meeting 2009
The band's AGM was held on Monday 5th January with a good representation of the membership present to review the past year and discuss strategy for 2009
Last year saw the introduction of the Derwent Brass Champagne Moment award; voted for by the members for any particular event or moment during the past year that could be considered a "Champagne Moment", whether it be a humerous incident, catastrophe, sublime
playing, disastrous playing..... whatever. After the votes were all counted up the award this year was to Solo Euphonium Adam Rutter for a wonderful solo performance of Night in Havana at the Bolsover Entertainment Contest in October 2008. (Adam also won the soloist prize at that event).
The Carl Richardson Memorial Trophy, (shown above) was awarded to Adam.
The award for Bandperson of the Year award (selected by the band's Musical Director) this year went to soprano player Dai Roberts
Formal election of officers and committee saw no change in official roles, and the committee being strengthened by the addition of Solo Trombone Martyn Johnson.
