Annual General Meeting 2008

The band's AGM was held on Monday 7th January with a good representation of the membership present to review the past year and discuss strategy for 2008.

This year also saw the introduction of the
Derwent Brass Champagne Moment award; voted for by the members for any particular event or moment during the past year that could be considered a "Champagne Moment", whether it be a humerous incident, catastrophe, sublime
playing, disastrous playing..... whatever.  After the votes were all counted up the award was to principal cornet David Neville for wonderful solo performances of Who Is he during our Christmas concerts, particularly in front of a 1000+ audience at Derby Assembly and live recording for Hospitals Radio.  The Carl Richardson Memorial Trophy, crafted by our very own Phil Neville (Dave's brother) and shown above was awarded.

Another first at this year's AGM was the introduction of the Player of the Year award. Awarded by the band's Musical Director, the chosen member was Bass Player and Band Treasurer Neil Riddle

Formal election of officers and committee saw very little change, Band Secretary Adrian Beresford takes over the Contest Secretary role following the resignation of Adrian Drewitt, and the band are pleased to welcome Susie Escott on to the Committee as Secretary.
