Over the years he has served the band as Secretary, Contest Secretary and Chairman and has also been a member of Midlands Area Committee
Nev studied music at Salford College prior to moving to Derbys and as well as his involvement with Derwent Brass he has been the Musical Director of the Long Eaton Silver Prize Band and Rolls Royce (Derby) Band.
Unfortunately family and work commitments prevent him from undertaking regular playing with the band, and obviously all at Derwent Brass are delighted that Nev has now accepted the position of Band President.
The first President of Derwent Brass was Eric Johnson, a very well known figure in the East Midlands and former solo euphonium player of the band. Regrettably Eric passed away in 2003 (see tribute) and therefore we were pleased that founder band member Nev Eden accepted the position of Band President.
It is fair to say that without Nev Derwent Brass probably would not have existed as he was undoubtedly the inspiration and driving force behind the formation of the band in 1992.
